Large Brazilian Raintree After Losing Its Leaves Due To Cold Weather.
If your bonsai has experienced a situation which has caused it to stress to the point of leaf drop you will need to adjust your care until you see signs of new growth.

New Growth Beginning To Push Out.
1. Do not fertilize a stressed plant. Wait until new growth appears before returning to your normal fertilization schedule. The main idea for wintering a tropical bonsai is to keep it healthy and not to encourage new growth. Avoid fertilizers with nitrogen. You can fertilize with a low or no nitrogen fertilizer which still contains the other nutrients necessary to keep your tree healthy. Look for fertilizers with NPK of 0-10-10, or 2-10-10 as examples. You should also continue year round with micronutrients especially if your bonsai tree is planted in a soiless or quick draining bonsai soil mix with little or no natural nutrients.

2. Reduce your watering. You should never allow your bonsai soil to go completely dry but at the same time, a leafless or stressed plant does not require as much soil moisture as one that is healthy. Keeping the soil too moist for too long of a period of time will only create conditions which will promote root rot.
3. Keep your bonsai in its new location until all signs of weather danger have passed. Do not move your bonsai back and forth or it will continue to deteriorate.

4. Be sure to create the conditions your bonsai requires to stay healthy and happy during its indoor stay. Tropicals require constant humidity and sunlight. Purchase the appropriate grow lights necessary or place the plant in an area which receives at least 8 - 10 hours of sunlight per day.
5. Keep your indoor bonsai away from heat sources and vents. Do not place your bonsai on top of your t.v. or stereo equipment.
