Q. WHAT TYPE OF FERTILIZER DO I GIVE MY BONSAI AND HOW OFTEN?
A. LETS DISCUSS FERTIIZERS.. READ ON.
Fertilizers are categorized by their ingredients. There will be a breakdown of the percentages of those ingredients on the label. Use the fertilizer recommended for your bonsai tree. Click here for Care Information pertaining to your bonsai fertilizer requirements.
Apply the proper fertilizer in the appropriate amounts at the correct time of the season for the optimal result. Bonsai fertilization requirements will change throughout the year. Fertilizers come in a variety of formulas and concentrations. In the Spring you want to encourage vigorous growth, so you will want a fertilizer higher in nitrogen compared to fall. Take into consideration higher nitrogen can cause stronger leaf and shoot growth as well as long internodes. Use a higher amount of potash for more prolific flowering during the budding cycle. It is better to err on the side of less than more.
DO NOT FERTILIZE PLANTS THAT ARE DORMANT OR SICK.
We recommend SUPERTHRIVE. Superthrive is an additive to fertilizer, not a fertilizer itself. Superthrive helps your bonsai to get the most out of your fertilizer such as essential vitamins and hormones to promote healthy growth. Superthrive is also used to reduce shock from transplanting or shipping. |
